Another highlight awaits you on the small island of Visovac in the lake of the same name: the Franciscan monastery, built in 1445, which houses an impressive art collection. 30-minute boat tours to the island usually start at Skradinski Buk, the most famous waterfall in the national park.

The undisputed highlight of the Krka National Park is the aforementioned Skradinski Buk. At this longest waterfall in the park, the water flows down 17 steps into a shallow pool where you can even take a refreshing swim. But we’ll come to that later.

By renting a bike in Šibenik or Skradin, you can experience the park in a very special way. On 14 partially asphalted mountain bike and cycling trails, you can explore the surrounding nature and continue your adventure in Krka National Park on two wheels.

The 7 Krka Waterfalls

The Krka Waterfalls in Krka National Park enchant visitors with their natural beauty. Seven breathtaking waterfalls are waiting to be discovered.

Bilusica Buk

Bilusica Buk, consisting of two steps with a height difference of about 20 meters, is best reached from Raducic (Knin-Kistanje road) or from the Promina side (Drnis-Oklaj road) via Gornji, Citluk and Ljubotic.

Brlijan

The Brljan waterfall only shows its splendor during high water. With a length of 300 meters and a depth of 15.5 meters, it is particularly impressive in spring. It can be reached via a hiking trail above the ruins of Burnum.

Manojlovac

It is by far the most beautiful and largest waterfall in Krka National Park and impresses with a total height of almost 60 meters. It can be reached via Bukovac (Knin – Kistanje, near Burnum) or Promina (Drnis – Oklaj).

Rosnyak

Rosnjak, the smallest of the seven Krka waterfalls, is located in a picturesque gorge. It can be reached via Bukovac (Knin-Kistanje) or Promina (Drnis-Oklaj-Puljana).

Miljacka slap

This waterfall is located about 1 km below Rosnjak and falls a total of 23.8 meters. Unfortunately, the waterfall is not accessible because it is located on the site of a power plant. However, it is visible from Bukovac via Knin-Kistanje (towards Oklaj-Drnis).

Roski slap

The waterfall stretches for about 650 meters and flows into the Visovac Lake. There is also an ethnographic museum here. The waterfall can be reached from Promina via the Drnis-Siritovi road or from the Bukovac side via the village of Lastkovica.

Skradinski Buk

Skradinski Buk, which is the longest waterfall in Krka National Park at around 800 meters, runs over 17 steps. It is best reached via the route Sibenik – Prukljan Lake – Skradin. Skradinski Buk is one of the most beautiful travertine waterfalls in Europe and forms the impressive conclusion to this natural symphony in the heart of Krka National Park.

The National Park and the Krka Waterfalls

During this time, the park welcomes its guests from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

During the transition periods in spring (March) and autumn (November), the gates of the national park are open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m./5:00 p.m./6:00 p.m. In the winter months of December, January and February, the opening hours are shortened to 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Limitation of the number of visitors to the Krka waterfalls

Since July 2017, following the recommendation of UNESCO and in response to the extremely high number of visitors to Skradinski Buk, Krka National Park has taken measures to protect the flora and fauna. A maximum visitor limit has been introduced and only a maximum of 10,000 visitors are allowed in the park at the same time.
