Island Pag Sights

Croatia travel guide with information and tips on beaches, sights and excursion destinations on the island of Pag Croatia

Island of Pag Croatia

With its exceptionally beautiful landscape, gorgeous beaches and culinary highlights, the island of Pag in northern Dalmatia attracts many tourists from the mainland. The rocky island is every hiker’s dream, as there are phenomenal views of the landscape everywhere. And you can cool off on the beach. And of course you have to try the local sheep’s cheese. Pag is an island full of surprises!

Anyone who crosses the bridge to the south onto the island will first notice the sparse vegetation. But this is exactly what makes the island so special! Some compare it to a lunar landscape that is completely different from many of the neighboring islands or the mainland. However, the combination of the white limestone, the green meadows and the blue sea is the island’s trademark.

When you visit, explore some of the settlements as you will learn more about the culture here. The towns in the north of the island are real eye-catchers and perfect for a stay of several days. Be sure to try the famous sheep’s cheese Paski Sir.

Beach vacationers will definitely get their money’s worth on the flat coasts around the island. From party beaches to quiet areas, there is something for everyone here.

Pag definitely offers a lot of variety! You can easily spend several days here, because there is something to discover around every corner. After all, the almost 60-kilometer-long island doesn’t explore itself.

Pag : The largest town on the island of the same name and the cultural centre. At the harbour you can admire countless boats coming from the mainland. And in the many narrow streets there are hidden restaurants and cafés that invite you to relax. The town in the bay is connected by several bridges that offer a wonderful view of the sea and the landscape.

Veliko Blato : A green landscape area that, in addition to the actual geography of the island, seems like an oasis in the desert. The nature is really picturesque and invites you to hike and walk.

Novalja : Mediterranean feeling reigns in the second largest town on the island, which is a wonderful paradise away from the tourists. Ancient churches and a wonderful town centre are just waiting for you to stop by. Be sure to visit the town museum to learn more about the history.

Olive gardens in Lun: Those who venture to the very north of the island will be richly rewarded. Unlike the rest of the island, there are many lush heaths here. But above all there are olive trees, one of Croatia’s most important export goods.
